Harrisburg, PA – The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank announced today it received a grant for $50,000 from the Nationwide Foundation to provide meals for thousands in need throughout the 27 central PA counties served by the Food Bank.
“We are honored to receive this gift from the Nationwide Foundation,” said Joe Arthur, executive director of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “This gift will help us provide thousands of pounds of fresh, nutritious produce and dairy items for families and individuals throughout 27 counties who are still making hard decisions between buying groceries or paying for other critical expenses in the wake of rising costs and record inflation. We are grateful for the support of the Nationwide Foundation and their commitment to feeding families in our communities.”
The Food Bank is one of the largest charitable food organizations in central PA, serving more than 144,000 people each month through a network of more than 1,100 partner agencies and programs in 27 counties. Gifts like the one from the Nationwide Foundation will help the Food Bank continue to supply millions of pounds of fresh, healthy food including fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and center of the plate protein. In 2021, the Food Bank distributed more than 13 million pounds of fresh produce.
