#HungerHeroStories

At the beginning of the pandemic, FedEx Freight stepped up to immediately help us move crisis response boxes at no cost.  They donated at least 2 drivers and their tractor trailers to the Food Bank each day for almost two months; moved well over 100 tractor trailer loads of product for us across the state; and moved countless loads of product between our Healthy Food Hub and our central packing facility.  They were instrumental in allowing us to ramp up our efforts; and we absolutely could not have met the need in the first two months of the crisis without their help.  They delivered more than 13 million pounds of food for us, which equates to 11 million meals for those who need it most.

“For FedEx, it was a pretty easy option [to help],” said Matt Suter, Assistant Center Manager, FedEx Freight, Middletown. “We thought ‘how can we make the biggest impact with everything going on?’”  We automatically thought of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank…we had worked with them before and wanted to stay close to our local community and give the best helping hand that we could.”
