#HungerHeroStories

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when schools were closing across central PA, Blake Lynch, community police/liaison for the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, immediately began working with the police department and the Harrisburg School District to distribute food to nearly 1,000 per families per week. Through Blake’s efforts, and the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, food distributions take place every week across eight sites in the city of Harrisburg, and over the last six months, have distributed more than 600,000 pounds of healthy, nutritious food for families in need.

“I believe that we are all here for a purpose and I think we are here to serve others and do good,” said Blake. “I think through that process that allows us to serve our community more. It allows us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and so I think if we can continue to do that, more people are going to be blessed and more people are going to be reached.”
