CREATE A LEGACY
Legacy Giving is an easy way to provide ongoing, reliable support to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank so we can continue to give nutritious food to families, children, seniors and others who need help.
Just as small seeds grow into strong and fruitful trees, legacy gifts are funds that sprout and grow to make a difference for years to come. Over time, legacy gifts bear plentiful fruit, supporting new initiatives, and help to eliminate hunger in 27 central Pennsylvania counties. Legacy gifts provide a steady and solid foundation for Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s mission of fighting hunger, improving lives, and strengthening communities.

Simple Ways to Make a Legacy Gift
Name the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in your will.
Though many of us may believe our estate is too small to make a gift in our plans, there is no bequest too small to help support those who struggle with hunger.
To make a gift in your will, it is suggested that you designate a percentage of the assets or a specific dollar amount. The following is sample language to use when establishing a bequest:
“I give, devise and bequeath ____% of the remainder and residue of property owed at my death, whether real or personal, to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in Harrisburg, PA.”
Special tribute in your will
Is there someone who inspired you to give back to the community or someone who cared about people who struggle with hunger? If so, you can create a permanent tribute to them in your will.
To make a tribute gift in your will, it is suggested you designate a percentage of the assets or a specific dollar amount. The following is sample language to use when establishing a bequest:
“I give, devise and bequeath ___% of the remainder and residue of property owed at my death, whether real or personal, to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in Harrisburg, PA. This gift is a tribute to ________ who inspired me to help people who struggle with hunger.”
You can support our mission by naming the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank as a beneficiary in your retirement plan or a life insurance policy so the Food Bank can receive that asset after your lifetime. You simply fill out a beneficiary form that is entirely separate from your will. By designating the Food Bank as a full or partial beneficiary, these types of gifts can avoid taxes and the estate can receive charitable deductions.
When you complete your beneficiary form, just name “Central Pennsylvania Food Bank” as the full or partial beneficiary and provide our tax identification number, 23-2202250.

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank established an endowment fund to provide financial resources for the capacity enhancement projects for the Food Bank and Food Bank partner agencies. The earnings of this endowment support innovative initiatives that help us meet our mission of fighting hunger, improving lives and strengthening communities.
The following is sample language to use when designating your charitable gift to the endowment fund:
“I give, devise and bequeath ____% of the remainder and residue of property owed at my death, whether real or personal, to the Endowment Fund of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in Harrisburg, PA.”
If you have, or plan to, leave the Food Bank in your estate plans, download our Letter of Intent to complete.
By submitting the Letter of Intent to the Food Bank, we can acknowledge your generous intention and you can join the Apple Seed Legacy Society. This form is not legally binding and the terms of your gift will always remain confidential.
