$3,500 Donation supports youth feeding programs in Franklin County, PA
HARRISBURG, PA – The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank has received a $3,500 gift from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed local neighbors in their time of need. The Food Bank will use the gift to support youth feeding programs in Franklin County, PA where Food Lion has stores.
“The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is grateful for the continued support of the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation,” said Joe Arthur, executive director of the Food Bank. “More than 20 percent of children living in Franklin County are food insecure following the devastating financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and this gift will help us expand our reach and feed more of these children and their families as part of our commitment that no one should be hungry.”
The Food Bank has 14 partner programs in Franklin County, including school pantry programs, which go beyond traditional backpack programs to feed the whole family. The Food Bank knows that when a child is hungry, the whole family is likely facing hunger. The Food Bank distributed more than 180,000 pounds of food through its youth programs in Franklin County in 2020 and with this recent gift from Food Lion, will be able to reach even more in the coming months.
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across our 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves.
